Physical healing and the methods by which people can be healed.
Various Methods of Being Healed
At some stage, everyone will need healing for their bodies, whether for illness, injuries, infections, diseases, abnormalities or anything that attacks one’s physical health.
God created the body with its own inbuilt healing ability, but when this fails, He has provided us with people who are trained with medical skills to assist us.
However, often these methods fall short of totally curing the individual. God has provided healing through His Word, the Bible, and when applied accurately, it always works.
Divine Healing
Throughout the Old Testament (Old Covenant) and the New Testament (New Covenant) God shows His way to heal people. Healing from God, known as divine healing, is supernatural. He has provided for every need that we may have, all we have to do is to tap into this provision in His Word, the Bible.
Diving healing can take place in different ways and He will always meet us at the level we are at.
It is important to understand that healing is always the will of God. He takes pleasure in us being well. A look at the New Testament will reveal that Jesus healed all who came to Him and, since He is the same today as He was yesterday or then (Hebrews 13:8), He still continues to heal all who come to Him.
Methods of Receiving Divine Healing
Some of the ways God has provided for healing in His Word:
Gifts of Healings
1 Corinthians 12:9,11 NKJV
:9 To another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings, by the same Spirit.
:11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills
These gifts or manifestations of the Spirit operate by the sovereignty of God, or as He wills. In other words, the person with these gifts cannot operate them when he/she wants to, but only when God leads them to minister this way. We sometimes call these healing anointings.
God initiates healing by this method. In other words, it is not up to us to decide that a healing gift should manifest.
Faith may still be involved, but sometimes the Lord initiates healing when the person has no faith.
However, you don’t have to wait for Him to move in this way. He has provided other methods for us to receive healing, which we can initiate.

Calling the Elders (or pastors) of the church to pray for you
James 5:14-15
:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
:15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Here, the sick person asks people to pray for them. In other words, the sick person initiates the healing (starts the orocess), not God. Another method mentioned here is anointing the sick person with oil.
Praying for One Another
James 5:16
:16 Confess your trespasses to one to another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
This method needs faith.
Using the Name of Jesus
John 16:23
:23 And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My Name He will give you.
‘In that day’ includes the day in which we now live.
In Acts 3, Peter and John going up to the temple to pray. They saw a lame man begging and expecting to receive something. Peter said (verse 6-7) “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” He took him by the hand, lifted him up and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
Verse 16 says, ‘And His Name, through faith in His Name, has has made this man strong’.

The Laying on of Hands
Mark 16:17-18
Jesus said: “These signs will follow those who believe: In My Name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover”.
Laying on of hands is probably the most common method to receive healing.
Believe the Word of God
Mark 11:23
Jesus tells us that: Whoever will say to this mountain (or any mountain in one’s life)”Be removed and be cast into the sea and will not doubt in his heart, but believe that those things he says will come to pass, he will have what he says.
When there is no one else to call upon, we can trust God and His Word. This is God’s best method for us, as we learn to appropriate the healing scriptures for ourselves. It requires consistent faith and learning to grow our faith. It requires constantly and consistently keeping God’s Word before us.
